Advanced Professional Education

Because of Lisa’s dog behavior class, I am making more educated decisions about the mental and behavioral stability of the animals at my facility. I no longer worry if an animal is stressed or on edge because I know the signs, which makes my job a lot easier.

Tiana, Municipal Animal Shelter Kennel Supervisor

Over the past two years Lisa has demonstrated that she is a highly dedicated professional and has a deep passion for what she believes in. She takes her work seriously. She is a great communicator with a great personality. Her presence and trainings have been a positive influence and provided motivation for our Bureau to be confident in our daily behavior assessments. She is well liked and highly respected as a person and a trainer. I sincerely believe, through my observations of Lisa, that she truly loves what she does and loves to share her knowledge with others.

Mentoring

As a Certified Pet Dog Trainer myself I have very high standards with the trainers I work with. Lisa has been instrumental in helping me with my own fearful reactive dog. I have learned so much from her. Lisa’s commitment to other trainers and continued education is unmatched.

Lisa in a number of ways has been the pinnacle to my own dog training career and continued education over the past 5 years; she has been my trainer, teacher, my mentor, my colleague, and friend. She has been a quiet observer of my own training mechanics and can say more with a simple smile, knowing glint in the eye, and a few choice words. Lisa chooses her words carefully so not to shut down her learners and clearly states what she sees and how to improve without giving it away! Her method of teaching has allowed me to blossom and become my own person and trainer with my own style and technique.

Public Speaking

Prior to taking Lisa’s Pet First Aid and CPR Class, I had taken another class that was taught by an instructor of a nationally recognized organization with a reputation as being one of the best organizations for emergency response training. That class was horrible. The instructor could not answer any of my questions. She seemed more concerned about her scripted lecture than the class actually understanding how to care for their pet in an emergency situation. Two of my questions were, in my opinion, should have been fairly simple to answer. One was about bee stings and the other was what to do if your dog has a short bulldog muzzle. The class also focused on other topics that were unrelated to First Aid or CPR and the speaker clearly had not expertise in. Needless to say, I was disappointed and felt like the class was a complete waste of my time and money.

The Pet First Aid and CPR class I took with Lisa was a completely opposite experience for both my husband and I. Lisa is a true professional and a great teacher. The answers I was seeking in the first class I took were all covered in Lisa’s lecture. All of the follow up questions the students had were thoughtfully answered or written down for Lisa to address later. I left Lisa’s class feeling empowered and knowledgeable.

Because this class covers lots of important information in a short period of time, Lisa spends a few minutes talking about how to review the course materials on your own after the class is over to help you recall the information if an emergency should arise. While I, myself, have not had to apply the knowledge I learned in Lisa’s class, I do know of a former students of mine who took the class and did save her dog’s life as a result of having learned the proper thing to do from Lisa. My former student told me she felt like Lisa was talking her through the steps as she was saving her dog’s life.

I can highly recommend Lisa as a Pet First Aid and CPR instructor and have since attended her Disaster Planning class as well, which was also excellently taught.

Lisa has a passion for learning and a wealth of knowledge to share. She has touched my life, and opened doors of discovery for me that have deepened both my understanding of dogs as a species, and my relationship with the pups in my life.
