A Step Beyond™, LLC offers a unique blend of customized in-home services to address your pet’s behavior problems. We provide private dog training instruction and dog behavior assessment and modification services for caring and dedicated owners. We employ progressive positive training methods based on the latest scientific knowledge of learning. We are dedicated to using the most recent science-based training methods when teaching both ends of the leash and when providing public education lectures for dog owners and special interest groups.
Our programs are tailored to consider your goals and needs by balancing the specific training issues of your pet’s age, sex, breed, temperament and their special personalities with your goals, time, skill, level of commitment and abilities. A Step Beyond is a Hayward based company owned by Lisa Clifton-Bumpass and is the evolution of her knowledge and professional skill which started as Pawsitive Steps Dog Training in 1998. Beyond being an award-winning certified dog trainer, Lisa is a behavioral consultant specializing in aggression and difficult dog behavior cases. Her expertise lies in working with animal behavior problems, training protocols and dog aggression. Lisa is a highly regarded professional having multiple certifications and extensive training. She is also a court-certified expert in dog behavior and training methodology. She has worked with many different kinds of animals and is recognized for her work with dogs with significant brain damage, as well as humane cooperative behavior husbandry for disabled and recovering animals. She is dedicated to creating a company that empowers people and builds knowledge and skill while making the lives of animals better.
